Lighten up a plain apple turnover by using airy phyllo dough—and then amp up the flavor with a pop of pumpkin pie spice.

Ingredients:

1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, quartered, and thinly sliced

1⁄2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

Juice of 1⁄2 lemon

1 TB. granulated sugar

Pinch of kosher salt

6 sheets phyllo dough

Instructions:

1.Set the air fryer to 330°F.

2. In a medium bowl, combine the apple, pumpkin pie spice, lemon juice, granulated sugar, and kosher salt.

3. Cut the phyllo dough sheets into 4 equal pieces and place individual tablespoons of apple filling in the center of each piece, then fold in both sides and roll from front to back.

4. Spray the fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray, then place the turnovers in the basket and cook for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

5. Remove the turnovers from the fryer and allow to cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving.
